Relevant legal bases
Relevant legal bases under the GDPR: Below you will find an overview of the legal bases of the GDPR on the basis of which we process personal data. Please note that in addition to the provisions of the GDPR, national data protection requirements may apply in your or our country of residence or establishment. Should more specific legal bases be relevant in individual cases, we will inform you of these in this privacy policy.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR) - The data subject has given consent to the processing of personal data relating to them for one or more specific purposes.
- Performance of a contract and pre-contractual enquiries (Art. 6(1)(1)(b) GDPR) - Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(1)(c) GDPR) - Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR) - Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data.
National data protection provisions in Germany: In addition to the data protection provisions of the GDPR, national data protection rules apply in Germany. These include in particular the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG). The BDSG contains, among other things, special provisions on the right of access, the right to erasure, the right to object, the processing of special categories of personal data, processing for other purposes, transmission, and automated decision-making in individual cases including profiling. In addition, the data protection laws of the individual federal states may apply.
Note on the applicability of the GDPR and the Swiss FADP: This privacy policy serves to provide information both under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For this reason, please note that, due to broader territorial application and comprehensibility, the terms of the GDPR are used. In particular, instead of the terms "processing" of "personal data", "overriding interest" and "particularly sensitive personal data" used in the Swiss FADP, the terms used in the GDPR, namely "processing" of "personal data" as well as "legitimate interest" and "special categories of data", are used. However, the legal meaning of these terms continues to be determined in accordance with the Swiss FADP where the Swiss FADP applies.
Security measures
In accordance with the legal requirements, and taking into account the state of the art, the costs of implementation and the nature, scope, circumstances and purposes of processing, as well as the varying likelihood and severity of the risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of protection appropriate to the risk.
These measures include, in particular, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data by controlling physical and electronic access to the data as well as the access, input, disclosure, availability and separation relating to it. Furthermore, we have established procedures that ensure the exercise of data subject rights, the erasure of data and responses to threats to the data. We also take the protection of personal data into account as early as the development or selection of hardware, software and procedures, in accordance with the principle of data protection by design and by default.
Securing online connections using TLS/SSL encryption technology (HTTPS): In order to protect the data of users transmitted via our online services from unauthorised access, we use TLS/SSL encryption technology. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) are the cornerstones of secure data transmission on the internet. These technologies encrypt the information transmitted between the website or app and the user's browser (or between two servers), thereby protecting the data from unauthorised access. TLS, as the more advanced and secure version of SSL, ensures that all data transmissions meet the highest security standards. When a website is secured by an SSL/TLS certificate, this is signalled by the display of HTTPS in the URL. This serves as an indicator to users that their data is being transmitted securely and in encrypted form.
Transfer of personal data
In the course of our processing of personal data, it may happen that the data is transferred to, or disclosed to, other bodies, companies, legally independent organisational units or persons. Recipients of this data may include, for example, service providers commissioned with IT tasks or providers of services and content that are embedded in a website. In such cases, we comply with the legal requirements and in particular conclude appropriate contracts or agreements with the recipients of your data that serve to protect your data.
International data transfers
Data processing in third countries: If we transfer data to a third country (i.e. outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA)), or if this occurs in the context of using third-party services or disclosing or transferring data to other persons, bodies or companies (which is apparent from the postal address of the respective provider or where this privacy policy expressly refers to data transfers to third countries), this is always done in accordance with the legal requirements.
For data transfers to the USA, we primarily rely on the Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which was recognised as a secure legal framework by an adequacy decision of the EU Commission dated 10 July 2023. In addition, we have concluded standard contractual clauses with the respective providers which comply with the requirements of the EU Commission and set out contractual obligations to protect your data.
This twofold safeguard ensures comprehensive protection of your data: the DPF forms the primary level of protection, while the standard contractual clauses serve as additional security. Should changes arise within the framework of the DPF, the standard contractual clauses take effect as a reliable fallback option. In this way we ensure that your data remains adequately protected even in the event of political or legal changes.
For the individual service providers, we inform you whether they are certified under the DPF and whether standard contractual clauses are in place. Further information on the DPF and a list of certified companies can be found on the website of the US Department of Commerce at https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/.
For data transfers to other third countries, corresponding safeguards apply, in particular standard contractual clauses, explicit consent or legally required transfers. Information on third-country transfers and applicable adequacy decisions can be found in the information provided by the EU Commission: https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/international-dimension-data-protection_en.
General information on data storage and erasure
We erase personal data that we process in accordance with the statutory provisions as soon as the underlying consent is withdrawn or no further legal bases for the processing exist. This applies to cases in which the original purpose of processing ceases to apply or the data is no longer required. Exceptions to this rule exist where statutory obligations or special interests require longer retention or archiving of the data.
In particular, data that must be retained for commercial or tax law reasons, or whose storage is necessary for legal prosecution or to protect the rights of other natural or legal persons, must be archived accordingly.
Our privacy policy contains additional information on the retention and erasure of data that applies specifically to certain processing operations.
Where several statements are made regarding the retention period or erasure deadlines for a piece of data, the longest period is always decisive. Data that is no longer retained for the originally intended purpose but on the basis of statutory requirements or other reasons is processed exclusively for the reasons justifying its retention.
Retention and erasure of data: The following general periods apply to retention and archiving under German law:
- 10 years - Retention period for books and records, annual financial statements, inventories, management reports, opening balance sheets and the working instructions and other organisational documents required for their understanding (Section 147(1) no. 1 in conjunction with (3) of the German Fiscal Code (AO), Section 257(1) no. 1 in conjunction with (4) of the German Commercial Code (HGB)).
- 8 years - Accounting vouchers, such as invoices and cost receipts (Section 147(1) nos. 4 and 4a in conjunction with (3) sentence 1 AO, Section 14b(1) of the German VAT Act (UStG) and Section 257(1) no. 4 in conjunction with (4) HGB).
- 6 years - Other business documents: received commercial or business letters, reproductions of commercial or business letters sent, and other documents insofar as they are relevant for taxation, e.g. hourly wage slips, operating accounting sheets, costing documents, price labels, and also payroll documents insofar as they are not already accounting vouchers, and till rolls (Section 147(1) nos. 2, 3, 5 in conjunction with (3) AO, Section 257(1) nos. 2 and 3 in conjunction with (4) HGB).
- 3 years - Data required in order to take account of potential warranty and damages claims or similar contractual claims and rights, as well as to process related enquiries, based on previous business experience and standard industry practice, is stored for the duration of the regular statutory limitation period of three years (Sections 195, 199 of the German Civil Code (BGB)).
Start of the period at the end of the year: If a period does not expressly begin on a specific date and lasts at least one year, it automatically begins at the end of the calendar year in which the event triggering the period occurred. In the case of ongoing contractual relationships in which data is stored, the triggering event is the point in time at which the termination or other ending of the legal relationship takes effect.
Rights of data subjects
Rights of data subjects under the GDPR: As a data subject, you have various rights under the GDPR, which arise in particular from Articles 15 to 21 GDPR:
- Right to object: You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR; this also applies to profiling based on those provisions. Where personal data concerning you is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purposes of such marketing; this also applies to profiling to the extent that it is related to such direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent: You have the right to withdraw consent given at any time.
- Right of access: You have the right to request confirmation as to whether data concerning you is being processed and to obtain access to that data as well as further information and a copy of the data in accordance with the statutory requirements.
- Right to rectification: In accordance with the statutory requirements, you have the right to request the completion of data concerning you or the rectification of inaccurate data concerning you.
- Right to erasure and restriction of processing: In accordance with the statutory requirements, you have the right to request that data concerning you be erased without delay, or alternatively, in accordance with the statutory requirements, to request restriction of the processing of the data.
- Right to data portability: You have the right to receive data concerning you which you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format in accordance with the statutory requirements, or to request its transmission to another controller.
- Complaint to a supervisory authority: Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR. The complaint may in particular be lodged with a supervisory authority in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony (Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen), Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany, https://www.lfd.niedersachsen.de/.
- Right to be informed: If you have requested the rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, we are obliged to inform all recipients of your data accordingly, unless this proves impossible or involves disproportionate effort. Upon request, we will inform you of these recipients (Art. 19 GDPR).
Right to object
Where we process your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to such processing with effect for the future.
If you exercise your right to object, we will cease processing the data concerned. We reserve the right to continue processing if we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or if the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Where we process your personal data for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to such processing at any time and without giving reasons. This also applies to profiling to the extent that it is related to such direct marketing. If you exercise this right, we will no longer process your data for direct marketing purposes.
You can submit your objection informally to the contact address stated above.
Business services
We process personal data of our contractual and business partners, such as customers, clients, prospective customers, suppliers and other cooperation partners (collectively "contractual partners"), for the initiation, performance and settlement of contractual relationships and comparable legal relationships. This also includes pre-contractual measures taken upon request as well as communication in connection with the respective contractual relationship.
The processing serves in particular to fulfil our primary and ancillary contractual obligations. These include the provision of the agreed services, any update and information obligations, the handling of warranty claims and other performance disruptions, the processing of withdrawals, terminations of continuing obligations, reversals, refunds and the handling of other contract-related declarations and enquiries. Both one-off contracts and ongoing contractual relationships are covered.
In particular, we process master data such as name, address and, where applicable, company, contact data such as email address and telephone number, contract and performance data such as subject matter of the contract, contract term, order or transaction number, usage and performance data, payment and billing data as well as communication content and histories. Where necessary, we also process data disclosed or transmitted to us in the course of carrying out an order.
In addition, we process the data to safeguard our rights and to comply with statutory obligations. This includes in particular commercial and tax law retention obligations, documentation obligations and, where applicable, obligations of proof and accountability. Processing also takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests in proper business management, internal administration, risk management and IT security, as well as in protecting our business operations and our contractual partners from misuse, endangerment of data, trade secrets and other legal assets. This may also include the involvement of external service providers such as IT and telecommunications providers, transport and logistics companies, payment service providers, banks, tax and legal advisers or other vicarious agents, insofar as this is necessary for the performance of the contract or for compliance with statutory obligations.
Personal data is disclosed to third parties only insofar as this is necessary for the performance of the contract, for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, to safeguard legitimate interests or to comply with statutory obligations. We provide separate information within this privacy policy about processing beyond this, in particular for marketing purposes.
We inform contractual partners which data is required in individual cases at the time of collection, for example in online forms by appropriate labelling or in personal contact.
Data is erased as soon as it is no longer required for the aforementioned purposes and no statutory retention obligations prevent this. Statutory retention periods, in particular under commercial and tax law, may require longer storage. Data transmitted in the context of a specific order is erased by us after completion of the order and expiry of any retention periods, provided that no further statutory or contractual storage obligations exist.
The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for the implementation of pre-contractual measures and for the performance of the respective contractual relationship, as well as Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for compliance with statutory obligations. Insofar as the processing is based on legitimate interests, it takes place on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, it serves to safeguard our legitimate interests in a proper and efficient business organisation, the internal administration and documentation of business transactions, the enforcement and defence of legal claims, ensuring IT and data security, preventing misuse and fraud, and the economic management and further development of our business operations. These interests consist in particular in ensuring secure and legally compliant business operations and in maintaining our entrepreneurial capacity to act.

Under certain circumstances, the data may be transmitted by the payment service providers to credit agencies. The purpose of this transmission is to verify identity and creditworthiness. In this regard, we refer to the terms and conditions and the privacy notices of the payment service providers.
The terms and conditions and the privacy notices of the respective payment service providers apply to payment transactions and are available on the respective websites or transaction applications. Advertising based on your activity in our shop, with other merchants and with Shopify only takes place if you have consented to marketing cookies via our cookie banner; you can withdraw this consent at any time via the cookie settings. Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR); Service provider: Shopify International Limited (address see above); Basis for third-country transfers: Adequacy decision of the EU Commission for Canada, standard contractual clauses; Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/consumers.
- Provision of the online offer on rented storage space: For the provision of our online offer we use storage space, computing capacity and software which we rent or otherwise obtain from a corresponding server provider (also referred to as a "web host"); Legal bases: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR).
- Collection of access data and log files: Access to our online offer is logged in the form of so-called "server log files". Server log files may include the address and name of the web pages and files accessed, the date and time of access, the volume of data transferred, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page) and, as a rule, IP addresses and the requesting provider. Server log files may be used, on the one hand, for security purposes, e.g. to avoid server overload (in particular in the case of abusive attacks, so-called DDoS attacks), and, on the other hand, to ensure server utilisation and stability; Legal bases: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR). Erasure of data: Log file information is stored for a maximum of 30 days and then erased or anonymised. Data whose further retention is necessary for evidentiary purposes is exempt from erasure until the respective incident has been finally clarified.
Use of cookies
The term "cookies" refers to functions that store information on users' devices and read information from them. Cookies may also be used for various purposes, such as the functionality, security and convenience of online offers, as well as the creation of analyses of visitor flows. We use cookies in accordance with the statutory provisions. To this end, we obtain users' consent in advance where required. If consent is not required, we rely on our legitimate interests. This applies where the storage and reading of information is essential in order to provide expressly requested content and functions. This includes, for example, the storage of settings as well as ensuring the functionality and security of our online offer. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. We provide clear information about its scope and which cookies are used.
Information on legal bases under data protection law: Whether we process personal data with the help of cookies depends on consent. Where consent is given, it serves as the legal basis. Without consent, we rely on our legitimate interests, which are explained above in this section and in the context of the respective services and procedures.
Storage period: With regard to the storage period, the following types of cookies are distinguished:
- Temporary cookies (also: session cookies): Temporary cookies are erased at the latest after a user has left an online offer and closed their device (e.g. browser or mobile application).
- Permanent cookies: Permanent cookies remain stored even after the device has been closed. For example, the login status can be saved and preferred content displayed directly when the user visits a website again. Likewise, user data collected with the help of cookies may be used for reach measurement. Unless we provide users with explicit information about the type and storage period of cookies (e.g. when obtaining consent), they should assume that these are permanent and that the storage period may be up to two years.
General information on withdrawal and objection (opt-out): Users can withdraw the consent they have given at any time and may also object to processing in accordance with the statutory requirements, including by means of the privacy settings of their browser.
- Types of data processed: Meta, communication and procedural data (e.g. IP addresses, time stamps, identification numbers, persons involved).
- Data subjects: Users (e.g. website visitors, users of online services).
- Legal bases: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR). Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR).

Processing of cookie data on the basis of consent (Shopify cookie banner):
We obtain users' consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies via the cookie banner integrated into the Shopify platform. There, users can choose whether to allow cookies in the categories personalisation, marketing and analytics; technically necessary cookies are used regardless. The choice made is stored in a cookie on the user's device (cookie "_tracking_consent") so that consent does not have to be requested again on every page view and the selected settings can be respected. According to Shopify, this cookie is stored for up to one year. Users can withdraw their consent at any time with effect for the future or change their choice by opening the cookie settings via the corresponding link in the footer of our online shop. Data processed: consent status per cookie category and the user's region; Service provider: Shopify International Limited, Victoria Buildings, 2nd Floor, 1-2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, D04 XN32, Ireland; Legal bases: Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR); the consent cookie is stored on the basis of Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG; Privacy policy: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy; Cookie policy: https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies.

You can create a customer account in our online shop. Setting up an account is voluntary – you can also order from us as a guest without an account. If you create a customer account, we process the data you provide in order to enable you to manage your orders, delivery addresses and profile details, and to save you from having to re-enter your data for future orders. Which details are required for this is apparent from the respective input form.
Login takes place via the customer account system of the Shopify platform. No password is required for this; the login is confirmed by means of a one-time code which you receive at your email address. The processing of your data in the customer account serves the performance of the usage relationship established upon opening the account as well as the processing of your orders.
You may request the deletion of your customer account at any time by sending us a message to the contact address stated above. Following deletion, we will remove your data provided that all contracts concluded via the account have been fully performed, no statutory retention periods prevent this and no legitimate interest on our part in further storage continues to exist. Invoicing and accounting data is unaffected by the deletion of the account and is archived for the duration of the statutory retention periods.

Newsletter and electronic notifications
We send newsletters, emails and other electronic notifications (hereinafter "newsletter") exclusively with the consent of the recipients or on the basis of a legal permission. Where the contents of the newsletter are described during registration, these contents are decisive for the users' consent. In order to register for our newsletter, it is generally sufficient to provide your email address. However, in order to be able to offer you a personalised service, we may ask you to provide your name for a personal salutation in the newsletter, or further information if this is necessary for the purpose of the newsletter.
Double opt-in procedure: Registration for our newsletter takes place by means of a so-called double opt-in procedure. This means that after registering you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary so that no one can register using another person's email address. Newsletter registrations are logged in order to be able to prove the registration process in accordance with legal requirements. This includes storing the time of registration and confirmation as well as the IP address.
Erasure and restriction of processing: We may store unsubscribed email addresses for up to three years on the basis of our legitimate interests before erasing them, in order to be able to provide proof of consent previously given. The processing of this data is limited to the purpose of a potential defence against claims. An individual request for erasure is possible at any time, provided that the former existence of consent is confirmed at the same time. In the case of obligations to permanently observe objections, we reserve the right to store the email address solely for this purpose in a blocklist.
The logging of the registration procedure takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests for the purpose of proving its proper course. Where we commission a service provider to send emails, this takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests in an efficient and secure sending system.

The data you provide when registering (in particular email address and, where applicable, name and telephone number) as well as information about your orders and your behaviour in our online shop is stored on Klaviyo's servers and processed there for the purpose of sending and evaluating our newsletters. Klaviyo may use this data in pseudonymous form to tailor the content of our messages to your interests. Where Klaviyo is also integrated into our website, cookies and similar technologies may be used to record your usage behaviour and to send you messages tailored accordingly. This takes place exclusively on the basis of the consent you have given via our cookie banner. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Klaviyo. - Measurement of open and click rates: Our newsletters contain so-called "web beacons", i.e. a pixel-sized file which is retrieved from the server of our sending service provider when the newsletter is opened. In the course of this retrieval, technical information is initially collected, such as details of the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the time of retrieval. It is also recorded whether and which links in the newsletter are clicked. This information is used to technically improve our newsletters and to evaluate which content is of interest to the recipients. The evaluations can be assigned to individual recipients. The measurement takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent; you may object to it at any time with effect for the future by unsubscribing from the newsletter; Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR).
Promotional communication via email, post, fax or telephone
We process personal data for the purposes of promotional communication, which may take place via various channels, such as email, telephone, post or fax, in accordance with the statutory requirements.
Recipients have the right to withdraw consent given at any time or to object to promotional communication at any time free of charge via the contact options stated above.
After withdrawal or objection, we store the data required to prove the previous authorisation to make contact or send communications for up to three years after the end of the year of withdrawal or objection, on the basis of our legitimate interests. The processing of this data is limited to the purpose of a possible defence against claims. On the basis of the legitimate interest in permanently observing users' withdrawal or objection, we also store the data required to avoid renewed contact (e.g. depending on the communication channel, the email address, telephone number, name).
- Types of data processed: Master data (e.g. full name, residential address, contact information, customer number, etc.); contact data (e.g. postal and email addresses or telephone numbers). - Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR). Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR).
Web analytics, monitoring and optimisation
Web analytics (also referred to as "reach measurement") serves to evaluate the visitor flows of our online offer and may include behaviour, interests or demographic information about visitors, such as age or gender, as pseudonymous values. With the help of reach analysis we can, for example, identify at what times our online offer or its functions or content are used most frequently, or invite reuse. It also enables us to understand which areas require optimisation.
In addition to web analytics, we may also use testing procedures in order to test and optimise different versions of our online offer or its components.
Unless otherwise stated below, profiles, i.e. data aggregated for a usage process, may be created for these purposes and information may be stored in a browser or on a device and subsequently read. The information collected includes in particular websites visited and elements used there, as well as technical information such as the browser used, the computer system used and details of usage times. Where users have consented to the collection of their location data by us or by the providers of the services we use, location data may also be processed.
In addition, users' IP addresses are stored. However, we use an IP masking procedure (i.e. pseudonymisation by shortening the IP address) to protect users. In general, no clear data of users (such as email addresses or names) is stored in the context of web analytics, A/B testing and optimisation, but rather pseudonyms. This means that neither we nor the providers of the software used know the actual identity of the users, but only the information stored in their profiles for the purposes of the respective procedures.
Information on legal bases: Where we ask users for their consent to the use of third-party providers, the legal basis for the processing is consent. Otherwise, user data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in efficient, economical and recipient-friendly services). In this context, we would also like to refer you to the information on the use of cookies in this privacy policy.
- Types of data processed: Usage data (e.g. page views and time spent, click paths, intensity and frequency of use, device types and operating systems used, interactions with content and functions). Meta, communication and procedural data (e.g. IP addresses, time stamps, identification numbers, persons involved).
- Data subjects: Users (e.g. website visitors, users of online services).
- Purposes of processing and legitimate interests: Reach measurement (e.g. access statistics, recognition of returning visitors); profiles with user-related information (creation of user profiles). Provision of our online offer and user-friendliness.
- Retention and erasure: Erasure in accordance with the information in the section "General information on data storage and erasure". Storage of cookies for up to 2 years (unless otherwise stated, cookies and similar storage methods may be stored on users' devices for a period of two years).
- Security measures: IP masking (pseudonymisation of the IP address).
- Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR). Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR).
Further information on processing operations, procedures and services:
- Shop statistics of the Shopify platform: The Shopify shop platform we use creates aggregated statistics from the access to our online shop (e.g. number of visits, products viewed, sources of visitors, conversion rates). These analyses serve exclusively the operation and improvement of our online offer. Further information on Shopify can be found in the section "Provision of the online offer and web hosting"; Legal bases: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR).
Online marketing
We process personal data for the purposes of online marketing, which may include in particular the marketing of advertising space or the display of advertising and other content (collectively referred to as "content") based on the potential interests of users, as well as the measurement of its effectiveness.
For these purposes, so-called user profiles are created and stored in a file (a so-called "cookie") or similar procedures are used by means of which the information about the user relevant for the display of the aforementioned content is stored. This may include, for example, content viewed, websites visited, online networks used, but also communication partners and technical details such as the browser used, the computer system used and information on usage times and functions used. Where users have consented to the collection of their location data, this may also be processed.
In addition, users' IP addresses are stored. However, we use available IP masking procedures (i.e. pseudonymisation by shortening the IP address) to protect users. In general, no clear data of users (such as email addresses or names) is stored in the context of the online marketing procedure, but rather pseudonyms. This means that neither we nor the providers of the online marketing procedures know the actual identity of the users, but only the information stored in their profiles.
The statements in the profiles are generally stored in cookies or by means of similar procedures. These cookies can generally also be read later on other websites that use the same online marketing procedure, and analysed for the purpose of displaying content, as well as supplemented with further data and stored on the server of the online marketing procedure provider.
In exceptional cases, it is possible to assign clear data to the profiles, primarily where users are, for example, members of a social network whose online marketing procedure we use and the network links the user profiles with the aforementioned information. We ask you to note that users may make additional agreements with the providers, for example by giving consent during registration.
In principle, we only obtain access to aggregated information about the success of our advertisements. However, in the context of so-called conversion measurement, we can check which of our online marketing procedures have led to a so-called conversion, i.e. for example to the conclusion of a contract with us. Conversion measurement is used solely to analyse the success of our marketing activities.
Unless otherwise stated, please assume that cookies used are stored for a period of two years.
Information on legal bases: The services named below are used exclusively on the basis of the consent you have given via our cookie banner pursuant to Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Section 25(1) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). You may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future by changing your selection in the cookie banner. In this context, we would also like to refer you to the information on the use of cookies in this privacy policy.
Information on withdrawal and objection:
We refer to the privacy notices of the respective providers and the objection options (so-called "opt-out") indicated for the providers. Where no explicit opt-out option has been indicated, you have the option of switching off cookies in the settings of your browser. However, this may restrict functions of our online offer. We therefore additionally recommend the following opt-out options, which are offered collectively for the respective regions:
a) Europe: https://youronlinechoices.eu/.
b) Canada: https://youradchoices.ca/.
c) USA: https://optout.aboutads.info/.
d) Cross-regional: https://optout.aboutads.info.
- Types of data processed: Usage data (e.g. page views and time spent, click paths, intensity and frequency of use, device types and operating systems used, interactions with content and functions). Meta, communication and procedural data (e.g. IP addresses, time stamps, identification numbers, persons involved).
- Data subjects: Users (e.g. website visitors, users of online services).
- Purposes of processing and legitimate interests: Reach measurement (e.g. access statistics, recognition of returning visitors); tracking (e.g. interest/behaviour-based profiling, use of cookies); audience building; marketing. Profiles with user-related information (creation of user profiles).
Further information on processing operations, procedures and services:
- Meta Pixel, Custom Audiences and Conversions API: With the help of the Meta Pixel, Meta is able to determine the visitors of our online offer as a target group for the display of advertisements (so-called "Meta Ads"). Accordingly, we use the Meta Pixel in order to display the Meta Ads placed by us only to those users on Meta and within the services of partners cooperating with Meta (the so-called "Audience Network") who have also shown an interest in our online offer or who exhibit certain characteristics (e.g. interests in certain topics or products determined on the basis of the websites visited) which we transmit to Meta (so-called "Custom Audiences"). With the help of the Meta Pixel we also wish to ensure that our Meta Ads correspond to the potential interest of users and are not perceived as intrusive. With the help of the Meta Pixel we can furthermore track the effectiveness of the Meta Ads for statistical and market research purposes by seeing whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Meta advertisement (so-called "conversion measurement"). In addition, the Conversions API may be used, whereby the event data is transmitted to Meta on the server side rather than via the user's browser. The processing of the data by Meta takes place within the framework of Meta's data usage policy. Meta and we are joint controllers within the meaning of Art. 26 GDPR insofar as the collection and transmission of the data to Meta is concerned; in this respect we have concluded a joint controller agreement with Meta (https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum); Service provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland; Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR); Website: https://www.facebook.com; Privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/; Basis for third-country transfers: Data Privacy Framework (DPF), standard contractual clauses (https://www.facebook.com/legal/EU_data_transfer_addendum). Opt-out: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
- TikTok Pixel and TikTok Events API: We use the TikTok Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertisements on TikTok and to build target groups for ad delivery. In doing so, information about your behaviour on our website (e.g. pages viewed, products added to the cart, completed orders) is recorded and transmitted to TikTok. In addition, the TikTok Events API may be used, whereby the event data is transmitted on the server side. The transmitted data may be linked by TikTok to your TikTok account if you are logged in there; Service provider: TikTok Technology Limited, 10 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin, D02 T380, Ireland; Legal bases: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR); Website: https://www.tiktok.com; Privacy policy: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/eea/privacy-policy/en. Basis for third-country transfers: Standard contractual clauses.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads (via Shopify's Google & YouTube channel): If you have consented to analytics or marketing cookies, we use Google services to statistically analyse the use of our online shop, measure the success of our advertisements and provide product data in Google Merchant Center. Information about your usage behaviour (e.g. pages viewed, products added to the cart, purchases), device and browser data and your shortened IP address are processed. These services are not loaded without your consent. Service provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG); Basis for third-country transfers: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), standard contractual clauses; Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy; Withdrawal: via the cookie settings in the footer of our online shop.
Presences in social networks (social media)
We maintain online presences within social networks and process user data in this context in order to communicate with users active there or to offer information about us.
We point out that user data may be processed outside the European Union in this context. This may give rise to risks for users, because, for example, the enforcement of users' rights could be made more difficult.
Furthermore, user data within social networks is generally processed for market research and advertising purposes. For example, usage profiles may be created on the basis of usage behaviour and the resulting interests of users. The latter may in turn be used, for example, to place advertisements within and outside the networks which presumably correspond to the interests of users. For this reason, cookies are generally stored on users' computers in which usage behaviour and interests of users are stored. In addition, data may also be stored in the usage profiles independently of the devices used by the users (in particular if they are members of the respective platforms and logged in there).
For a detailed description of the respective forms of processing and the opt-out options, we refer to the privacy policies and information of the operators of the respective networks.
In the case of requests for access and the assertion of data subject rights, we also point out that these can be asserted most effectively with the providers. Only the latter have access to the user data in each case and can directly take appropriate measures and provide information. Should you nevertheless require assistance, you can contact us.
- Types of data processed: Contact data (e.g. postal and email addresses or telephone numbers); content data (e.g. textual or pictorial messages and contributions as well as information relating to them, such as details of authorship or time of creation). Usage data (e.g. page views and time spent, click paths, intensity and frequency of use, device types and operating systems used, interactions with content and functions).

Plug-ins and embedded functions and content
We integrate functional and content elements into our online offer which are obtained from the servers of their respective providers (hereinafter referred to as "third-party providers"). These may be, for example, graphics, videos or city maps (hereinafter uniformly referred to as "content").
Such integration always requires that the third-party providers of this content process the IP address of users, since without the IP address they would not be able to send the content to their browser. The IP address is therefore necessary for the display of this content or these functions. We endeavour to use only content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of the content. Third-party providers may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also referred to as "web beacons") for statistical or marketing purposes. Pixel tags can be used to evaluate information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user's device and may contain, among other things, technical information about the browser and operating system, referring websites, time of visit and further details about the use of our online offer, but may also be combined with such information from other sources.

Definitions of terms
In this section you will find an overview of the terms used in this privacy policy. Insofar as the terms are defined by law, their statutory definitions apply. The following explanations, on the other hand, are intended primarily to aid understanding.
- Master data: Master data comprises essential information required for the identification and administration of contractual partners, user accounts, profiles and similar assignments. This data may include, among other things, personal and demographic details such as names, contact information (addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses), dates of birth and specific identifiers (user IDs). Master data forms the basis for any formal interaction between persons and services, institutions or systems by enabling unambiguous assignment and communication.
- Content data: Content data comprises information generated in the course of the creation, editing and publication of content of all kinds. This category of data may include texts, images, videos, audio files and other multimedia content published on various platforms and media. Content data is not limited to the actual content but also includes metadata that provides information about the content itself, such as tags, descriptions, author information and publication dates.
- Contact data: Contact data is essential information that enables communication with persons or organisations. It includes, among other things, telephone numbers, postal addresses and email addresses, as well as means of communication such as social media handles and instant messaging identifiers.
- Meta, communication and procedural data: Meta, communication and procedural data are categories containing information about the manner in which data is processed, transmitted and managed. Metadata, also known as data about data, includes information describing the context, origin and structure of other data. It may include details of file size, creation date, the author of a document and change histories. Communication data records the exchange of information between users via various channels, such as email traffic, call logs, messages in social networks and chat histories, including the persons involved, time stamps and transmission paths. Procedural data describes the processes and workflows within systems or organisations, including workflow documentation, logs of transactions and activities, and audit logs used to trace and review operations.
- Usage data: Usage data refers to information that records how users interact with digital products, services or platforms. This data covers a broad range of information showing how users use applications, which functions they prefer, how long they remain on certain pages and which paths they take through an application. Usage data may also include the frequency of use, time stamps of activities, IP addresses, device information and location data. It is particularly valuable for analysing user behaviour, optimising user experiences, personalising content and improving products or services. In addition, usage data plays a decisive role in identifying trends, preferences and potential problem areas within digital offerings.
- Personal data: "Personal data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter "data subject"); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier (e.g. cookie) or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
- Profiles with user-related information: The processing of "profiles with user-related information", or "profiles" for short, comprises any form of automated processing of personal data consisting of the use of that personal data to analyse, evaluate or predict certain personal aspects relating to a natural person (depending on the type of profiling, this may include various information concerning demographics, behaviour and interests, such as interaction with websites and their content, etc.) (e.g. interests in certain content or products, click behaviour on a website or location). Cookies and web beacons are frequently used for profiling purposes.
- Log data: Log data is information about events or activities that have been logged in a system or network. This data typically contains information such as time stamps, IP addresses, user actions, error messages and other details about the use or operation of a system. Log data is often used to analyse system problems, for security monitoring or to create performance reports.
- Reach measurement: Reach measurement (also referred to as web analytics) serves to evaluate the visitor flows of an online offer and may include the behaviour or interests of visitors in certain information, such as the content of web pages. With the help of reach analysis, operators of online offers can, for example, identify at what times users visit their web pages and which content they are interested in. This enables them, for example, to better adapt the content of the web pages to the needs of their visitors. For the purposes of reach analysis, pseudonymous cookies and web beacons are frequently used in order to recognise returning visitors and thus obtain more precise analyses of the use of an online offer.
- Tracking: "Tracking" refers to the ability to trace the behaviour of users across several online offers. As a rule, behavioural and interest information relating to the online offers used is stored in cookies or on servers of the providers of the tracking technologies (so-called profiling). This information can subsequently be used, for example, to display advertisements to users which are likely to correspond to their interests.
- Controller: "Controller" means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
- Processing: "Processing" means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means. The term is broad and covers practically any handling of data, whether collection, evaluation, storage, transmission or erasure.
- Contract data: Contract data is specific information relating to the formalisation of an agreement between two or more parties. It documents the conditions under which services or products are provided, exchanged or sold. This category of data is essential for the administration and fulfilment of contractual obligations and includes both the identification of the contracting parties and the specific terms and conditions of the agreement. Contract data may include start and end dates of the contract, the type of services or products agreed, price agreements, payment terms, termination rights, renewal options and special conditions or clauses. It serves as the legal basis for the relationship between the parties and is decisive for clarifying rights and obligations, enforcing claims and resolving disputes.
- Payment data: Payment data comprises all information required to process payment transactions between buyers and sellers. This data is of decisive importance for electronic commerce, online banking and any other form of financial transaction. It includes details such as credit card numbers, bank details, payment amounts, transaction data, verification numbers and invoice information. Payment data may also contain information about payment status, chargebacks, authorisations and fees.
- Audience building: Audience building (English "custom audiences") refers to the determination of target groups for advertising purposes, e.g. the display of advertisements. For example, on the basis of a user's interest in certain products or topics on the internet, it may be concluded that this user is interested in advertisements for similar products or the online shop in which they viewed the products. "Lookalike audiences" (or similar target groups) refers to content deemed suitable being displayed to users whose profiles or interests presumably correspond to the users for whom the profiles were created. Cookies and web beacons are generally used for the purposes of building custom audiences and lookalike audiences.
